I build software and process improvements for small teams. Since leaving agency work, I've focused on comparing performance options and planning upgrades in manageable phases. I prepare scope notes, technical requirements and the assumptions behind each option. Long trips along the coast are how I like to spend time away from work.

I specialise in AI-assisted customer tools and the websites that make them useful. I wrote the Node API and gave managers a way to correct uncertain recommendations. The interface uses shared patterns so staff don't have to learn a new interaction on every screen. I take on this work alongside my day job, starting with a small feature we can test before committing to a larger build. I help choose the scope, document decisions and plan deployment with the team. On the evening train, I sometimes sketch ideas in a notebook, but often just enjoy the ride.

I build process reviews, operating plans and decision support. I begin by talking with the people who will use the result, then agree on a small, testable first step. Clients get clear files, sensible checks and notes they can keep using after the project ends. Travelling by train is how I usually clear my head after a busy week.
